The Mecha Phantom Beasts are a deadly armada of sentient fighter planes and airships. For nearly two years Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack has led their combat maneuvers – a brutal Rank 7 Xyz that unleashes Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens as reinforcements, and blasts your opponent’s cards out of the sky with its powerful destruction effect!
But World Superstars changes everything as a brand new boss monster joins the dogfight: Mecha Phantom Beast Jaculuslan is a massive Level 9 Synchro that flies intercepting patterns to protect your fleet; searches evasive and aggressive technologies for your flight plan; and buzzes your opponent’s hand. With three different abilities and 2700 ATK, Jaculuslan is just what the Mecha Phantom Beasts needed…
Mecha Phantom Beast Jaculuslan’s first effect triggers when it’s Synchro Summoned: you canTribute Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens up to the number of cards in your opponent’s hand, to randomly discard an equal number of their cards. Gather enough Mecha Phantom Beast Tokensand you can rob your opponent of all their cards in one huge maneuver. How do you do it?
-Mecha Phantom Beast Tetherwolf Special Summons a Mecha Phantom Beast Tokenwhenever it’s Normal Summoned. Easy!
-Mecha Phantom Beast Megaraptor Summons a Mecha Phantom Beast Token whenever you Summon a Token. It lets you double up on your Token tricks.
-Mecha Phantom Beast Harrliard gets you a Mecha Phantom Beast Token whenever you Tribute a monster for a card effect – it’s cool because it can trade Sheep Tokens and Infernoid Tokens for Mecha Phantom Beasts.
-Mecha Phantom Beast Hamstrat Special Summons two Tokens when it’s flipped face-up.
– Mecha Phantom Beast Coltwing brings two Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens to the field when you Special Summon it, if you control another Mecha Phantom Beast.
So there are lots of ways to load up for an attack run with Mecha Phantom Beast Jaculuslan. The trick is Tuning the right monsters at the right time.
Example? If you control a Mecha Phantom Beast Token it’ll boost a Level 4 like Mecha Phantom Beast Megaraptor to Level 7, since most Mecha Phantom Beasts gain Levels fromMecha Phantom Beast Tokens. Tune that boosted Beast with the Level 2 Mecha Phantom Beast O-Lion, and you’ll have the 9 Levels you need for your Synchro Summon. O-Lion has two effects: you can banish it from your Graveyard to make another Mecha Phantom Beast Normal Summon, and you can Special Summon a Mecha Phantom Beast Token whenever O-Lion nosedives into the Graveyard. You won’t get that second Token in time for Jaculuslan’s effect, but you can use your first Token for a free discard, then reserve the second one for later plays. This combo Summons Jaculuslan and forces at least one discard for just two cards.
So what’s the easiest way to set that up? Normal Summon Mecha Phantom Beast Tetherwolf to trigger its ability, Special Summoning a Mecha Phantom Beast Token. That gets you two of the three monsters you need. From there you need to field Mecha Phantom Beast O-Lion: you could banish another O-Lion from your Graveyard to get a second Normal Summon, or use the Special Summon effects of cards like Mecha Phantom Beast Hamstrat, Mecha Phantom Beast Harrliard, or Mecha Phantom Beast Kalgriffin. You have lots of options.
Once you blow away your opponent’s hand, Mecha Phantom Beast Jaculuslan’s second effect protects all of your other “Mecha Phantom Beast” monsters from destruction by battle or card effects – it protects your effect monsters and your Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens alike. And if your opponent manages to destroy Jaculuslan, there’s one more tailspin trick up your sleeve…
When your opponent destroys your Mecha Phantom Beast Jaculuslan, you can Set a Quick-Play Spell Card from your Deck. That’s awesome, because Mecha Phantom Beast Decks run lots of Quick-Plays: favorites like Mystical Space Typhoon, Book of Moon, and Enemy Controller are right at home in any Mecha Phantom Beast strategy, but there are also plenty of specialized Spell Cards that are more unique to the Deck.
-Mask Change II lets you discard Mecha Phantom Beast O-Lion to Special Summon a Mecha Phantom Beast Token, then send away another Token to unleash a Masked HERO.
-Strike of the Monarchs lets you Tribute a Level-boosted Mecha Phantom Beast to negate a monster effect, or the effect of a Spell or Trap Card.
-Draw Muscle can protect a Mecha Phantom Beast Token from being destroyed, and then you get to draw a card.
-Scramble!! Scramble!! trades Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens to Special Summon Mecha Phantom Beasts from your Deck.
-Jaculuslan’s effect protects your monsters from destruction effects, and since they’re all Machines you can Limiter Removal with impunity.
